Jul 29, 2024

Supply, North Carolina — McCumbee McAleer Racing (MMR) with AEROSPORT is pleased to announce that Gavin Sanders will fill in for Chad McCumbee, in the No. 13 Ford Mustang GT4 sponsored by Vervantis, alongside Jenson Altzman for the Road America 120 this weekend. This event marks the seventh round out of 10, of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Championship.

About Gavin Sanders: The 21-year-old Mount Albert native has been rapidly ascending the North American Sportscar ranks over the past five years. Winning is a consistent theme in Sanders' career, with notable achievements including the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title in the 2020 Nissan Micra Cup and two wins in the inaugural season of the Nissan Sentra Cup. He also earned the Vice-Champion title in the SRO GT4 America Silver class in 2022, securing 10 podium finishes and 2 wins.

In 2023, Sanders co-founded Sanders Motorsport with his sister Ellen, finishing 3rd in the Radical Cup Canada Championship and achieving more victories at the Honda Indy Toronto. For 2024, Sanders Motorsports has expanded, adding Subaru of Mississauga as a partner and introducing the Subaru BRZ TCA to Canadian Sportscar racing. Gavin is also pursuing opportunities in Canadian and American Sportscars while completing his Bachelors of Business Administration - Automotive (BBAA) at Georgian College.

Chad McCumbee, team owner: "We are very happy to welcome Gavin to our IMPC team! After working with the Sanders family over the past few years, it is a natural fit to have him in the car at Road America. After a very strong performance at CTMP, and a bit more BoP help for this coming event, I am very optimistic about getting results for Jenson and Gavin."

Gavin Sanders, co-driver of the No. 13: "Overall, I’m ecstatic to be a part of this phenomenal program. It’s a privilege to come aboard, knowing this is an opportunity not to be taken for granted! With my past experiences in SRO GT4 and Radical Cup at Road America, I’m looking to hit the ground running with Jenson and the crew. This is one of my favorite North American circuits, one which I’ve had success at in the past, so high hopes for a great debut in IMPC!"

Jenson Altzman, co-driver of the No. 13: "Excited for Gavin to be joining us at Road America this weekend! He’s had a lot of success in other GT4 makes, so I’m eager to see what he thinks of the new Mustang GT4 and see if there’s more we can learn. Chad has left some big shoes to fill, but at the same time he’s been an amazing mentor and has helped me build the tools I need for when he steps away. Despite our first podium coming at this race last year, we faced a lot of challenges over that weekend so I’m looking forward to getting back and seeing what we’ve got!"

MMR with AEROSPORT will kick off the Road America 120 weekend with two practice sessions on Friday, August 2, followed by qualifying early Saturday. The green flag for the Road America 120 will come out later that day at 2:45 p.m. ET and can be watched live on Peacock. For more information on this event, click here
