Mid-Ohio, June 16, 2024 – McCumbee McAleer Racing (MMR) had an outstanding weekend at Mid-Ohio, marking a significant peak in their 2024 season. Team co-owner Chad McCumbee expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishments across three different series, with 10 race cars and nearly 30 staff members contributing to an unforgettable event.
Mustang Challenge Series Success
The brand new Mustang Challenge season kicked off with impressive results for MMR. Despite a challenging timeline leading up to the event, the team secured two podium finishes in the Pro division and a major win in the Legends division. McCumbee commended Ford Performance and everyone involved for their hard work and dedication, which ensured the series launch was a resounding success. The team's perseverance and preparation paid off, setting the stage for an exciting future in the Mustang Challenge series.
Michelin Pilot Challenge Performance
MMR once again proved to be a formidable contender in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. McCumbee, alongside co-driver Jason Altzman, demonstrated strong pace and front-running capabilities during the grueling O'Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours of Mid-Ohio endurance race. Despite facing pit equipment challenges in the first hour, the team’s strategic moves, flawless pit stops, and solid on-track performance enabled them to recover and finish in P11 after a late-race pit shuffle. McCumbee highlighted the team’s impressive performance and the capabilities of the Vervantis Mustang GT4.
MX-5 Cup Dominance
The weekend's crowning achievement came in the form of the MX-5 Cup program’s extraordinary success. The team secured two pole positions, one win, and four podium finishes, including a complete podium sweep in Race 2 on Sunday. MMR now holds the top two spots in the championship chase and has claimed half of all available podium positions for the season. The team has consistently achieved at least one top-three finish in every race, showcasing their dominance and exceptional performance in the series.

“What a week for McCumbee McAleer Racing! The IMSA event at Mid-Ohio this past weekend was certainly the peak of our season… for multiple reasons. With 10 race cars in 3 different series and just under 30 staff on the grounds, everything was absolutely non-stop. I am so proud of each and every one of our amazing staff and drivers. This was a total team effort that yielded memorable results," said Chad McCumbee.
